Transformations

Nicholas D’Agosto

A metamorphosis may be
majestic
as when caterpillar becomes butterfly,
brilliant
as carbon to diamond.

But it is enough
to release
the piercing frigidity,
the brittle rigidity
of ice—

And embrace
the versatile, vital,
blessing, bathing,
embodiment
of water.
