Nothing Short of a Miracle

Tara Humphries

You are blessed. And you are a blessing.
They try to remove you—us—from sports and locker rooms;
bathrooms and churches; military service…
from policies that protect; libraries and classrooms that teach; from public life in America…
to legislate us out of existence

and yet: here we are.
Still here, as we have always been, and not going anywhere.
For we are blessed. We are a blessing.

Blessed in our tattooed, scarred, ever changing/morphing/evolving bodies.

Blessed in our changing voices, wardrobes, pronouns, and kickass haircuts.

Blessed in our names, our height and depth, our faith.

Blessing the world with authenticity; with our chaos, our beauty, and our liberation.
Blessing the world with our leadership in movements for change.
Blessing the world by shining our light on those who wish us ill
because we are so much freer than they can ever imagine being.

All of who you are is nothing short of a miracle.
You are a blessing to this world.
