Prayer in Response to Political Violence

I invite you to breathe with me.

This is a scary moment, there is no doubt about it.
And we are here together in the holiness of community to hold space with each other.
When political violence is no longer a rhetorically-based thing
but rather happening in front of our very own eyes, it can be hard to know what to do next.
So, I invite you to breathe with me.

Right now, the threat of the unknown can be immobilizing.
And as with all breaking news crises, it is likely that we will know a lot more in the days to come. A promising thought and a frightening one as well.
Will you join me in a moment of prayer?

Spirit of Life and Love, when the unthinkable has happened we lift our hearts to you, humbled by all that we do not and cannot know, all that we do not and cannot control.

We pray for peace, we pray for a steadying of emotions and a calming of hearts.

In this time of uncertainty and fear, we pray for community and connection and a place to hold it all.

May we find our way forward, relying on each other.

May it be so, and Amen.
