based on Light upon Light verse in Qur’an 24:35
Light upon Light
You are like a lamp, ignited with sacred olive oil
That comes from the earth and the blessed olive tree
the light that is called to shine on even when they attempt to contain it
But Your light cannot be encased
For it is like a fire that emblazens our way to light the way for others
As it illuminates the injustices in this broken world
That blaze—from the collective lamps sent to give us signs—
Roars like a lion
Shining with incredible courage
Light upon Light
Shine on and follow those glowing lamps the ancestors set out for us
And as you ride through the storms
Become that
Light upon Light
Because your light is that of the divine
And You are called forth
To shine upon shine
For you are a blessing to this world
If you only knew
